The 5 series machines have a lot of goodies from the 7 series, including the massive bobbin which has 70% more thread than the standard bobbin, but just on a smaller and more portable frame!
The 570 QE is a winner all round as it has an easy to use graphic user inferface, beautiful stitching, Bernina dual feed, BERNINA Stitch Regulator foot included for those dabbling in quilting, and the optional extra of an embroidery unit — all backed up with solid componentry.
The included BSR foot (Bernina Stitch Regulator) and Bernina dual feed are particular particular draw cards with this model. The BSR is adored by many beginner quilters and those who really want to have even stitches while doing free motion quilting. The BSR is a foot with an inbuilt laser which communicates with the machine to keep the stitch length consistent at variable sewing speeds by tracking how fast you move the fabric under the BSR foot. The Bernina dual feed is excellent for smooth or fine fabrics and it also helps to evenly feed fabric through as the machine stitches. When not in use, it tucks away out of sight, but is easily retrievable with just the fore finger and thumb. These two features set this machine apart and is the reason it is such a favourite!
The free arm on this machine is longer than the 4 series measuring 8.5 inches, and still very portable. The practical elements have been taken into account with this machine, while flaunting the luxury of its touch screen and offering some features of a 7 series BERNINA.
